Khao Lak is in the tropics, Khao Lak is surrounded by ancient jungle and Khao Lak is close to the equator. Don't expect it to be cold or dry! Everything else - we got it!
Khao Lak has two seasons really, a hot, not-too-wet season and a really-much-too-wet season. The "Dry" season lasts from November until april or May. During this time it is very common to have 30 minute afternoon thunderstorms - which are great as it cools off the day, clears the air and keeps everything fresh. The Rainy season is just that. It can be clear for weeks at a time or rain every day for weeks. Khao Lak gets an average rainfall of more then 3 Meters (that is 10 FEET AKA a Metric buttload).
Khao Lak Current Weather. We try to do fairly frequent postings on weather conditions on our Khao Lak Diving Blog.Of course - we might be out diving, so it's not every day!
Khao Lak is too small and unknown to have formal weather stations - we can get a pretty accurate estimate of the local weather by checking the current weather and five-day forecast for Takuapa and other information for the Phuket area. Takuapa is 25 Kilometers minute north of Khao Lak. Most Phuket weather information will come from the airport about 55 minutes drive south of Khao Lak.
