Here at Wicked Diving we take your safety (and ours) seriously, and spend a great deal of time teaching, training, and planning so you don’t have to. We have an extensive background and training specific to Dive Safety and Emergency First Response unmatched by any shop in Thailand. Our first priority is to prevent any accidents from happening, but if they do, we are prepared for immediate and decisive actions. The way we see it, you are trusting us to ensure that your vacation is as safe and exciting as possible, and that’s not a responsibility that we take lightly.
Foremost in our thoughts and planning is prevention of any accident – on land, in the water and on the boat. Throughout each day our staff and crew work not only make our guests comfortable and relaxed, but answering questions and interacting constantly to address any fears that arise. Constant communication is a key step to eliminating as many of the factors as possible that can cause accidents – the most common being; stress, confusion, and fear.
Our boat features a Satellite phone, powerful two radio, multiple smoke alarms and fire extinguishers. All staff members have the appropriate and up to date training necessary, along with emergency contacts and procedures on hand. We talk and visit with the National Park Rangers each day - we taught them to dive.
To prevent any problems with equipment, at Wicked Diving, we service all necessary components every season (that means every 6 months, not every year!). If you have any questions or concerns, please ask to see our service records - all service and purchase transactions are available upon request.
Safety begins with information, and we provide extensive briefings on the local conditions and potential hazards. We use the currents, not struggle against them, and plan each dive accordingly. Our experience in the area and specialty training helps with these decisions. All divers are given Surface Marker Buoys, used to prevent lost divers, and taught how to use them. We also integrate not just safety stops but deep stops into all our dives (more information here). Of course our No Touch Policy is great for protecting the marine environment but it also helps us reduce marine life injuries for everyone on board!
Finally, if an accident does happen we are prepared. We do monthly rescue scenarios on our boat to keep all staff up to date and trained. With two experienced dive medic technicians on staff that are employed by the local hyperbaric chamber, you can be assured that we know how to deal with accidents should they occur.
Even with our efforts to assure your safety, please bear in mind when considering your vacation plans, that diving is not a risk free activity. We work to minimize these risks, but accidents do happen. The places we dive are not completely remote, but are also not immediately accessible to rescue services either. It can be up to 3 hours or more before you can reach a hospital or hyperbaric chamber.
